Strategic Manifesto of the Italian Ecomuseums

Strategic Manifesto of the Italian Ecomuseums

The STRATEGIC MANIFESTO DEGLI ECOMUSEI represents a first tool, the result of a comparison and meeting moments carried out on several occasions by some Italian ecomuseums, towards the construction of a NATIONAL NETWORK OF ECOMUSEUMS. The first stages took place in Trento (Rete degli Ecomusei Trentini) in November 2014 and in Bologna (IBC Regione Emilia Romagna), in February 2015.

The document had its first formulation in the context of the meeting held in Poppi, Arezzo (Ecomuseo del Casentino) on 8 and 9 May 2015 and was subsequently integrated following various contributions received and on the occasion of the meeting with Hugues de Varine which took place in Cervia, Ravenna (Ecomuseum of Salt and Sea of Cervia) on 29 May 2015. As contained in the introduction "... this document intends to contribute to the birth but also to the development and evolution of ecomuseum experiences that are able to foster virtuous models for sustainable local development. The new horizon of ecomuseums must be represented by a museology increasingly committed to the search for alternative strategies for local development, that is linked to the demand for change emerging from communities, a museology that intends to stimulate the management and use of cultural, environmental and cultural heritage. landscape for local and community development, through the training of responsible human resources, ie actors aware of their own development. The ecomuseum lives regardless of the collections, it exists because it works starting from the centrality of a special heritage, THE PEOPLE, mobilizing their sensitivity and intentions "
