Church of the Suffrage
Corso Mazzini 20 - The church of Santa Maria del Suffragio was built between 1717 and 1722.
The linear and rigorous front of the church fits perfectly into the surrounding landscape, creating a sort of continuity with the adjacent houses; the original intention was precisely to merge the building within the city, without distinction from the town planning.
The interior is also very sober, with an elliptical nave and two side chapels.
Two works of great value are still preserved today: the first is a wooden crucifix dating back to 1300, which according to legend arrived by sea during a stormy night and was placed to protect fishermen already in Cervia Vecchia, in the Church of the Frati Minori Conventuali. ; the second work is a Venetian organ dated 1788, built by Gaetano Callidio and still functioning today.
