The Faro (lighthouse)

Via Nazario Sauro - It is one of the symbols of Cervia, of the salt and seafaring city, portrayed in many paintings by painters, such as those of Giuseppe Palanti, founding father of Milano Marittima.
Built in 1875, while retaining its overall appearance, the lighthouse has undergone numerous changes over time: its height was increased for the first time in 1918, following the construction, in its vicinity, of rather tall buildings, and a second time when the damages suffered during the Second World War were repaired.
At first, its light was 15 meters above the sea level, while then it reached 16.5 m. Initially in fixed white light, it was then switched to intermittent light, to distinguish it from the ever-increasing glare of public lighting, finally "put to rest" and replaced by two electronic lights at the head of the piers.
The work of laying the quays of the port, wrote the historian Gino Pilandri, "caused the lighthouse the disease of the Pisan tower, making it lean slightly towards the canal".
