Casa delle Aie

Via Aldo Ascione 4 - Born as a center for the production of pine nuts, it is now a renowned restaurant serving typical Romagna cuisine, also known abroad.
The Casa delle Aie is an imposing two-storey farmhouse building dating back to the late 1700s. The first attestation dates back to 1777 on a project by the master Girolamo Rossi. It was then rebuilt, after a fire in 1789, by the Ravenna architect Camillo Morigia. The name of the house derives from the courtyards in front and behind the structure called “aie”, where the pine cones of the surrounding pine forest were worked and the pine nuts were prepared. At the beginning of the twentieth century, with the great environmental changes of the time, such as the construction of the railway and the consequent decrease of the pine forest in the Bassona area, the Casa delle Aie was slowly abandoned and leased by the municipality to private individuals.
In the mid-fifties of the XX century it was granted to the Amici dell’Arte Association, a cultural club created with the aim of preserving the traditions of Cervia and Romagna, which restructured it.
Today it is the seat of the Casa delle Aie Cultural Association, which organizes meetings there in the name of the winning combination of food and wine and culture.
