Musa Museum of salt

Via Nazario Sauro 24 - Located inside the "Torre" salt warehouse, MUSA preserves an important part of Cervia's history.
It was born in the 90s, as a simple collection, from the activity of the Salinara Civilization Cultural Group which wanted to keep alive the memory of the work in the salt pan and collected documents, tools and photos that testify to the environment and the production of salt. Organized as a museum in 2004, it is now recognized as a Quality Museum of the Emilia Romagna Region.
The Museum presents itself as a path full of symbolic references, of profound suggestions as deep is the relationship of this Territory with water and the sea.
In May 2013 a new section of the Museum was inaugurated which assumes the city as a thematic centrality.
Through the narration of its history, particularly significant aspects of the Cervia reality are explored, from its origins and its relationship with the territory, to the socio-economic reality linked to the development of fishing and seafaring, but also of tourism "exploded" in the 1960s. The exhibition also includes an archaeological section, created in collaboration with the Archaeological Superintendence for the Archaeological Heritage of Emilia-Romagna, which returns to the public finds of particular importance from the area. Inside the museum some particularly interesting pieces stand out, including the mosaics of the church of San Martino, found in 1989 during the excavations carried out for the construction of some fish tanks in the area on the edge of the salt pans. These are the remains of the church of San Martino prope litus maris (near the sea), a VI century building mentioned in various maps and historical documents.
